Weyward. A cute little witchy novel following three women of the same family during three different time lines. A story that I honestly chose from BOTM because the cover was pretty. I am a proud and loud judge a book by it's cover girl. Sue me. That being said, Weyward was just as good as the cover, it was real, it was deep, and just a little witchy.

Synopsis: 2019: Under cover of darkness, Kate flees London for ramshackle Weyward Cottage, inherited from a great aunt she barely remembers. With its tumbling ivy and overgrown garden, the cottage is worlds away from the abusive partner who tormented Kate. But she begins to suspect that her great aunt had a secret.

I really liked this book. More than I thought I was going to. The writing was beautiful & heartfelt, the women were interesting and I enjoyed reading all of their POV's, it was the perfect way to kick off a little fall vibe. I don't think I'm going to get too into the plot for this one, it's good, it has it's moments that keep it going and interesting and it comes to a satisfying end, I think that's all you really need to know.

For this review I want to talk about one of my favorite subjects: women.

ree

Weyward follows three women in three different decades, the thing that ties them together is the fact that they are all Weyward's. The author does such a great job of creating a narrative that gives each women their time to shine will still connecting them to each other while cohesively keeping the reader invested in each story. I often find in fiction or just in general that women aren't quite written in a way that is relatable or even genuine. I normally live life by the "if it's written by a women" it must be "good". After I read Darling Girl last year...that no longer holds the weight that it use to. That being said, the women in Weyward were written beautifully. The feminine energy that I received while reading this was truly great. Just the emotions, the beauty of what it means to be a women, while focusing on themes of independence, perseverance & strength. The other thing I really enjoyed was the fact that each woman was a slightly different age as well, I felt like this gave us insight to the many layers of not only being a woman but growing up as one. The way we age and grow--the things that we learn along the way, with other women holding our hands along the way is something truly beautiful.

I'm also going to be honest, I really did love this book but I don't have much to say about it, and that's okay. Sometimes you just read a book and it's fun, it's beautiful, and the story is one that will stick in small ways with you, and Weyward was one of those. It's also one of those books that I could sit here and type out every thought and all the beauty that stems from these pages but genuinely, I think this is a story that is better read.

Indulged and eaten page by page curled up on your couch or bed and for you to enjoy. Key: for you to enjoy.

Weyward was beautiful, inside & out and if you open it up, you'll find exactly what you're looking for. A moving woman centric story stretching generations but showing how connected family & the feminine really are.

See you guys soon :)
