He smelt like summer
And tasted like honey
His eyes the blue of the waves back home
And his the smile the white of the moon
He was loud and bold
But quiet and calm
Like the ocean he had his tides
His moments of all encompassing
But his days of distance
Just long enough to miss the sound
The roaring of his laugh or the rustle of his voice
He was the color of damp sand
And had the mind of a wise seamen
He was a lighthouse
Beautiful and inspiring to all
But a true light to those who were patient enough to wait for night
He was home but somewhere new
All at once
He was everything and nothing at all
He simply was
My ocean boy
Simply existing for the world to see
My ocean boy waiting for me every night
As I came home and ran straight into his cool arms
Full of life and love and joy

author's note:
I grew up next to the ocean, and now have my own personal ocean with me, every where I go. Funny how things have a way of coming back to you.
