Every book has characters we just can't get enough of! Those that we just loooove and sit and day dream about how amazing it would be if they were real...*sigh*

I have my plethora of what I consider comfort characters, those who if "real" would be the ones I consider my closest friends...or love interest :') (sorry luis!) I wanted to share a few of who those were and why I am just infatuated with them <3

Edward Cullen (Twilight)

I feel like I shouldn't even have to explain...but for those who doubt I will! This man, this VAMPIRE OF A MAN, is one that invented what it meant to be in love when I was a youngster. The way he eloquently speaks to Bella, would move heaven and earth for her, and is obsessed with her, are all things every woman wants. Yes...he might be over 100 years old, but that just means he's lived the greatest periods of man kind! Edward can swing dance and no one can tell me any differently! He has that old timey romance vibe to him that makes me utterly adorable. Also he's smart, he loves to READ. I would go to Edward with any writing or literature assignment and I know I would get an A+.

Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher)

I'll admit I'm new to the Witcher train but Geralt has my heart. He is this stoic but very kind supernatural creature, who again, would do anything for those he cares about (are we seeing a theme haha). Strictly speaking about the books, Geralt is funny. His humor is so bland and dry that I am always just giggling at what he is saying. Also a very smart man he would be amazing to sit and talk to! Imagine the monster slaying tales he could tell you, all while brushing his amazing silver hair... but I mostly love Geralt for his no b.s. attitude. He does what he wants, is also a Switzerland, and he respects women. 10/10 in my book.

Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings)

Samwise is also one of the funniest characters to every have been written into life. Not only is he abundantly selfless and kind, he is so feisty! He is constantly putting people in their place within the LOTR series and isn't afraid to let someone know when he thinks their a little...dumb. He always sticks up for his friends and is just so chaotically there. Is he constantly tripping and slightly messing things up...yes, but he will tell you a good joke and make you the best potato stew you've ever had in the process.

Elizabeth "lizzie" Bennet (Pride and Prejudice)

I love her. I know without a doubt that we would be the best of friends and go on coffee dates all of the time. We would have fancy picnics in the park, and dress up for no reason. Dance in the rain and go mud sliding. Elizabeth Bennet is one of those characters that I see a lot of myself in as well. She is a strong young woman. She is fierce, she is kind, she is intelligent, and witty! I just know conversations with her would be fantastic.

Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)

Honestly, I might have to do a whole different section on all the wonderful characters from Harry Potter, but Ron Wesley deserves a spot on the debut list. Ron is the male version of myself. He is just weird enough that he's likeable and is relatively funny. He has a fear of spiders (yeah me too) and loves to eat. He is also another feisty character (ah another theme??). Ron would invite you to family dinner, apologize about the mess but ultimately be so proud of his family. He would always be the designated driver and the one to plan surprise birthday parties. He's a good friend! Ron is always viewed as a sidekick but is also the hero in doing so. I once wrote a paper on the importance of sidekicks in the hero's journey, where I wrote a lot about how Harry is seemingly nothing without Ron (and Hermione of course!) Will I be re-shopping that and posting soon when I go through my re-diving into Harry Potter again era? You bet! So stay on the lookout for some Ron love content!

I would have to say, right now, these are my top five. There's so many more I could do but then you would be stuck reading a novel haha. Comfort characters are the reasons we keep coming back to books. The ones that we know, when we are having a hard day, are going to be there, ready to take us on an adventure!

xoxo,

paige :)
